Meet the Team
Hello! Our team is happy and excited to meet you and your pets. While longer descriptions about us are included below, the short version is that each and everyone of us is here because we love and want to help animals. We each bring our own expertise to the team from ears to eyes to calming nervous dogs and so much more!
Co-owner
William Craft, DVM, DACVP
Dr. William Craft began his career in the United States Coast Guard right out of high school. From the Bering Sea to Antarctica his years of service in the military led him across the globe and eventually to Pullman, WA where he entered veterinary school at Washington State University.
In vet school, Dr. Craft focused on dermatology and small animal medicine. Spurred on by his own dog's difficult and chronic ear infections, he did his senior thesis and research on diagnosing, managing, and treating outer and inner ear infections. To improve quality of life and to help prevent further suffering not only in his dog's life but everyone else's dogs' lives, he learned as much as he could about this often difficult and painful condition.
Dr. Craft graduated in 2004 and spent the next 6 years working as a small animal veterinarian at both general and emergency practices.
In 2010, Dr. Craft along with his wife decided to pursue a residency in anatomic pathology at the University of Florida. After his residency he has continued to work for UF as a faculty member. His passion remains dermatology, and he currently co-operates the UF Dermatopathology Service. He has had a successful and fruitful career in academia, with over 30 publications along with teaching both veterinary students and pathology residents. He has been invited to speak at numerous conferences about dermatopathology, and currently serves as Treasurer for the International Society of Veterinary Dermatology.
Now things have come full circle, and he looks forward to bringing his expertise and additional training back to clinical practice.
During his downtime, you will often find Dr. Craft hanging out with his wife and two sons playing board games or watching sporting events. He also enjoys spending time grooming and occasionally showing the family's dogs Endy, Dessa, Teddy, and Penny.
Co-owner
Serena Craft, DVM, DACVP
Dr. Serena Craft graduated from Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004.
She started her career working at a busy emergency and general practice hospital that allowed her the unique opportunity to work for both emergency and general practice teams while learning from talented individuals including a board certified internist and dentist. This first six years instilled in her a sense of excitement in ophthalmology and dental and oral pathology.
Finding the most joy out of diagnosing or figuring out what was wrong with patients, in 2010 she left to pursue an anatomic pathology residency at the University of Florida's College of Veterinary Medicine. This residency would train her in the pathologic basis of animal disease or the why and how disease happens, how to perform a post mortem examination or autopsy, and how to recognize or diagnose disease either grossly (from looking at the animal or tissue) or microscopically (looking at tissues under a microscope).
Initially expecting to only stay in Florida for 3 years, she was recruited and hired to work for UF after her residency. Her tenure at UF involved teaching residents, students, performing service duties as a pathologist including biopsy and necropsy (i.e. autopsy) services. Growing from her loved developed while in practice, her specialty interests developed into oncology (study of cancer), ocular pathology, and oral pathology. In addition, she co-founded University of Florida's Ocular Pathology service.
Like it seems to happen sometimes, life has come full circle and Dr. Craft looks forward to bringing her expertise in diagnosing animal disease to Access Veterinary Care.
In her free time, Dr. Craft likes to spend time on family adventures or playing games with her husband and their two teenage sons, Warren and Henry, and snuggling her dogs. When recharging her batteries, you will often find Dr. Craft reading, writing, cross stitching, working on jigsaw puzzles, and dabbling in quilting.
